In 1865, 24-year-old Louis (Ludwig) Ganter founded the GANTER brewery in Freiburg. To this day, we are an independent, regional family business, rooted in the city of Freiburg and the South Baden region.
We brew beer by tradition, but above all with a lot of passion. It is important to always give the best to achieve the best. We follow this principle from the purchase of raw materials through the brewing process to the contact with our customers.
It is a special honor for us that we have customers who have been sourcing, distributing or selling GANTER beer for generations. This shows that we not only offer our customers high-quality products, but also cultivate a partnership relationship with them.
The loyalty of our customers is a confirmation that the decisions made in the past were correct. As a company, we are always “in the thick of the action” and deal responsibly with social, political and economic developments. We market our beers in the region so we can always guarantee their freshness. We only buy regionally. We brew beers of the highest quality and concentrate on connoisseurs and connoisseurs as customers.
The passion for beer brewing is shared by all our employees. The “old hands” as well as the many young employees in the team. Thus, in the House of GANTER, despite all tradition, a young, fresh spirit rules. And just this young spirit has contributed to the fact that the brewery GANTER has developed in recent years to one of the most modern medium-sized breweries in Germany and we have made great progress on the way to the eco-brewery.

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. As a founding member of the AMBRU Campaign, launched in 2020, Porsiel advocates for the global recognition of American Brandy and Rum. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
