How did we get here? Well at some point he’d had enough, and Rich Garrahan decided to ditch his suit and tie to build his own little slice of heaven. Rich envisioned a place where his worries were left at the door. He wanted what a lot of us want at one time or another: He wanted an escape. For him, that means a big backyard with tons of yard games, plenty of homemade craft beer, and a never-ending cookout where the burgers are as good as the conversation.
This beery utopia also needed to be a place our people (laid back people that take as much joy in hosting as they do in getting the most out of life) would love to work for and be proud to show off. Seven years later, we have three such slices of heaven dedicated to crafting great brews and tasty food in a spot that was made to connect and unwind.

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. As a founding member of the AMBRU Campaign, launched in 2020, Porsiel advocates for the global recognition of American Brandy and Rum. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
