The beginnings of Lāčplėš brewery can be traced back to 1948 in Lielvārde. At first it was made mainly for own consumption, over the years Lāčplēša beer became very popular, and its fame spread throughout Latvia. Today, Lāčplėš beer is still brewed the way the original brewers brewed it.
