Kottmann's Edeldestillat-Brennerei
August Kottmann distills fine spirits with passion – a tradition that goes back over 200 years at the Gasthof Hirsch. The fruits we harvest and source berries from traditional orchards in the Swabian Alb. The majority comes from the own district of Gosbach.
We produce a variety of wild berry brandies, pure apple distillates, pure pear brandies, various cherry distillates, Swabian whiskey made from Alb spelt or fragrant, aromatic liqueurs – an aromatic pleasure that is more to smell than to drink.
But the quality of the distillate requires more than just good, sun-ripened fruit. Only with the heart and love of the master distiller August Kottmann, fine waters, spirits and spirits are created and developed – without any added flavors.
Many distillates are rarities and the harvest years vary greatly. Such noble distillates are always a gift idea for someone special occasions. At the state award in 2019, the quality test was carried out according to the guidelines of the Baden-Württemberg mark of origin and quality August Kottmann successfully took first place among more than 250 participants in the brandies and spirits category, as well as the liqueurs category won.

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. As a founding member of the AMBRU Campaign, launched in 2020, Porsiel advocates for the global recognition of American Brandy and Rum. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
