“Engelbräu, a beer as heavenly as its name”
With this slogan the private brewery Engelbräu Rettenberg enjoys an excellent reputation and great name recognition.
It has been successfully managed by the current owner, Hermann Widenmayer, in the third generation of the Widenmayer family for more than 30 years. His personal commitment and solid craftsmanship characterize our style. Because there are values that always exist: quality and tradition. Today, the Engelbräu Rettenberg is one of the leading regional breweries in the Allgäu, with its own brewery depots are maintained in the well-known resorts Kleinwalsertal and Pfronten.
Since 1950, in addition to the beers, a variety of non-alcoholic soft drinks and fruit juices produced, creating a second foothold was created.
In 1977, the new brewhouse with fully automatic control and attached fermenter cellar and boiler house was built and put into operation.
In 1995, we succeeded in acquiring the neighboring site, which considerably expanded the previous site.
In 1998, with a cost of approximately € 1.75 million, the conversion and the substantial modernization of bottling took place.
In 2006, massive investments were once again made in the filling shop and now swing-top bottles are being bottled again.
In 2008, the construction of a new tank cellar with eight cylindroconical fermentation and storage tanks – with a volume of 288,000 liters – was completed at a cost of approx. € 1.5 million.
