Mitterteicher Kommunbrauhaus
The Kommunbrauhaus in Mitterteich, a town in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth in Bavaria, was built in 1864 after the old Kommunbrauhaus on today’s Bahnhofstrasse was demolished due to the construction of the railway line. The Kommunbrauhaus with the address Vorstadt 13 is a protected monument.
The plastered solid building with a gable roof has high arched windows and a segment-arched gate with a keystone. The windows and the gate have a sandstone frame.
Since 1651, every citizen of Mitterteich who owned a house or property and had citizenship had the right to brew. Regardless of these regulations, the priest and the mayor were allowed to brew. Even today, some citizens still exercise their brewing rights; They have joined together to form a brewing community and brew their Zoigl once a year.
