Reiter-Bräu

The Bavarian state ordinance of 1516 contains what is still the most important legal regulation for us today regarding the practice of our brewing craft: the Bavarian Purity Law. According to this, a beer may only be made from the ingredients hops, malt, yeast and water. To this day, we produce our Wartenberg brewery beer strictly in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law, but still according to our own recipe and with natural ingredients.

Because the basis for a good and tasty brewery beer is above all selected raw materials. We get our pure natural hops and malt from the Holledau. Our brewer Michael Reiter processes these raw materials in our brewery according to his own recipe to a high standard. His very own way of composing the respective brewery beers gives them their unmistakable taste. Sometimes malty and aromatic, sometimes noble and bitter and always refreshing – these are the beers from the Reiter Bräu brewery in Wartenberg near Erding.

So that you can easily recognize our beers visually, a dynamic rider above the Wartenberger lettering adorns our labels and special beer glasses. You can recognize Wartenberger beer from the Reiter Bräu brewery by its unique taste anyway. Why, that remains our secret. Because as the American master brewer Fritz Maytag once said: “Beer doesn’t just come into being on its own. It also involves a little bit of magic and certain things that nobody really understands.”

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
