Stauffenberg
In the lower Mindel valley, around the town of Jettingen, the von Stauffenberg taverns bought the allodies of the Barons vom Stain in the middle of the 18th century. At that time, the acquisition included a brewery and a brandy distillery. Even after the introduction of the state alcohol monopoly, fruit brandies continued to be produced here in the old family tradition. Until a few years ago, smaller batches were distilled primarily for home use. The production of the distillates is still limited to individually produced small editions of 40 to 200 bottles per variety. – Quality regulates quantity.

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
