Worrich's Brauhaus

The pub on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Albertstrasse has always been a good address in Forst. “In the post-war years, Worrich’s Gaststube was the regular haunt of our SG Forst-Mitte football team. We spent some lovely, cozy hours and were always well looked after by Franzl’s parents, Kurt and Margot,” writes Dieter Nothnik in warm words.
“The Worrich family is an old family dynasty. In the 1950s, Franz Worrich, the grandfather of the current owner, was the proprietor. It was a real roar in front of the pub, because all the football results were posted there – from the district league to the Oberliga,” recalls Herbert Gottschalk.
“The corner pub has been known under Worrich for four generations,” recalls Elfriede Bonkatz. “During the GDR era, the restaurant ‘Zur Eisenbahn’ was also called the ‘sharp corner’.”
Peter Kersten also writes to us: “As a young man, I loved going there with Franz’s father after work for a beer. It was very comfortable, with good beer and good service. It’s still very nice there today!”
“Unfortunately, I rarely go to the pub these days,” writes Wolfgang Schenk. “But I always have the ‘Schwarze Jule,’ a dark beer, at home, and I really enjoy it!”
The cider press is also still operating today in good tradition.
