Ebb and flow – About us
Our company specializes in the manufacture of high-quality and, above all, unique products.
Let’s browse through the history books a bit, but just the most important facts:
In 1904, the “Strandburg” was opened as one of the first hotels in Alt Reddevitz. The builder was Karl Kliesow, a captain by profession. He recognized the opportunity and the advantages that tourism brought with it.
In 1903, the building application was submitted, the district master builder agreed, and so the hotel was built with the help of many craftsmen.
One of these craftsmen was his cousin.
Johan Kliesow is a carpenter and boat builder and takes over the “Strandburg” in 1910.
The hotel is sold around 1920.
In 1953 the last owner is expropriated (Operation Rose). The “Strandburg” then becomes a company holiday home and a children’s holiday camp in the hands of the German Reichsbahn for over 30 years. Around 1993 the heirs of the last owners regain their hotel. The Reichsbahn is the last user of the building for the time being. The “Strandburg” remains unused for many years. The efforts of the previous owners to convert the house into a modern hotel fail. It slowly begins to decay and vandalism takes its toll on the already dilapidated house.
Around this time the search for a building for a brewery or distillery began and the “Strandburg” seemed to be perfect for it.
Many hours, days and even years passed before the conversion could finally begin in May 2005.
We have been producing handmade spirits sustainably at Strandburg since 2006.
