The “Brauhaus Alt Neuhaus” was opened in 1981 as the “Café Alt Neuhaus” by Olaf Schlichting. Our guests appreciate the rustic Irish pub-style ambiance and, last but not least, our house beer, “Cronemeyers.” We have been producing our beer in the brewery cellar below the dining room since 2005. Come and experience the taste of our two house varieties, Cronemeyers Hell and Dunkel, for yourself. Also very popular are our schnapps, produced in-house by the affiliated family business “G.F. Ulex Nachfolger,” which has been producing various schnapps and liqueurs according to traditional recipes for over 230 years. We also offer a small selection of hot dishes, including baguettes, pizzas, and soups. We look forward to your visit!

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. As a founding member of the AMBRU Campaign, launched in 2020, Porsiel advocates for the global recognition of American Brandy and Rum. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
