Coleburn Distillery
Coleburn was founded in 1896, by blenders John Robertson & Son Ltd and located just four miles to the south of Elgin. The source of the name of the distillery was ‘charcoal burn’ – because the area used to be a centre of charcoal production in the past. The Distillery closed in 1985. Today the distillery is owned by United Distillers and the buildings are currently used as a venue for live music. Coleburn is said to have been a component of Diageo’s Johnnie Walker blended whiskies.
