Ugly Dog Distillery follows in the footsteps of American moonshiners, distilling in small, handcrafted batches. Each is personally taste tested by the master distiller who personally designed and built the distillery’s equipment. It is the company’s mission to produce products of premium quality that can be sold at a mid-range price. Ugly Dog is also committed to supporting the Michigan economy by using, to the extent possible, Michigan produced raw materials. Ugly Dog Vodka is made from 100% Michigan winter wheat. Customer demand has encouraged the Distillery to expand its product line to include rum and flavored vodkas.
I’ve combined the finest raw materials Michigan has to offer with great care and pride resulting in a spirit of the highest quality. Enjoy it responsibly with family and friends.

Caroline Porsiel is a master distiller and liqueurist based in East Ellijay, Georgia. She founded House of Applejay, a fine spirits and liqueur distillery, in 2022 with her mother, Sabine, crafting award-winning products like Applejay from Ellijay, Mt. Frozen Knob Vodka, and Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. The distillery won a 2024 Best of Georgia Award and a 2025 Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Winter Cherry Mountain Liqueur. As a founding member of the AMBRU Campaign, launched in 2020, Porsiel advocates for the global recognition of American Brandy and Rum. She continues to drive innovation in the craft spirits industry from her active distillery in the heart of Georgia’s apple country.
