The brewery Faust was founded by Kilian Francois Mathieu Servantaine from Suman in the Liège region (today’s Belgium) in the year 1654. In 1661 the brewery moved from a provisional to their own brewery in the black district. In 1664 she received the shield right for a public economy, “Zum Weißen Löwen”. In 1796, the brewery’s office and residential building was built in its present form. In the years 1848-1850, two members of the brewer family fled to Milwaukee in the US, as they were supporters of the liberal movement, and founded there the brewery slot, which was the second largest in the world at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1895 master brewer Johann Adalbert Faust became sole owner of the brewery. However, the company was renamed in July 1993 from “Löwenbrauerei Miltenberg” in “Brauhaus Faust”.
The Spessart brewery has its origins in the “Goldenen Löwen” inn at the site of today’s brewery, which was first mentioned on May 9, 1741.
