The Hakushu Distillery was founded in 1973 by Suntory. It is located in the Japanese Southern Alps and is nicknamed the “forest distillery”. It is among the highest malt distilleries in the world with 700 meters above sea level. At its time it was one of the largest distilleries in the world. Hakushu west is no longer active, production was moved to the new larger Hakushu east location in 1981.
Tours and Tastings
From January 2016, reservation will also be required for the visitors of the distillery viewing (including the museum, shop, and restaurant). If you do not have a reservation, you may not be able to enter when the distillery is full. Please make a reservation prior to visiting.
