Oitava Colina
When Frei Nicolau de Oliveira, in the seventeenth century, names Lisbon as a city of seven hills, he does so by pure pretence, forcing the approach to the first capital of the Roman empire, Rome.
Seen from those who came to Lisbon from the sea, the city appeared to have seven hills, for from this optical perspective, Castelo de S. Jorge capped the visibility of the Eighth Hill, the Graça hill, vile and voluntarily marginalised by the Frei, who had his purpose – the parallelism with Rome.
The Eighth Hill, hidden from view by the castle and hidden from recognition by the Friar, stood by the resilience of its people, marginalised from the foci of the city of light.
It is this historic heritage that serves as an inspiration for our beer, produced on Grace Hill, the 8th Hill. A beer out of what is pre-established, formatted and imposed, and above all willing to explain to the world, that the world is not just “black and white”, beer is not just “blonde, black or redhead”, and we can choose and know exactly what we drink.
At 8th Hill, our work is honest and ambitious, done without artifice, in the search for the perfect Craft Beer. All nice things to say, but empty if beer is not good …
Our beers are produced exclusively from malt, water, hops and yeasts.
Unfiltered beers, with natural carbonation produced by fermentation itself.
