Chateau Aeronautique Winery was founded by Lorenzo Lizarralde in 2008 on an Airpark north of Jackson with a home and a hangar on a grass runway. Wines have been handcrafted in the hangar using Michigan grapes, fermented in French yeasts and aged in French oak barrels. Lorenzo, being an international airline pilot, incorporates the aviation theme with an open cockpit biplane logo on every bottle. Desiring to grow its own grapes for better control and quality, having outgrown the hangar, and an abundance of requests to host weddings, buses, etc, the Winery acquired 26 acres in the Irish Hills for a second, larger venue in 2017 where all production of our Wine, Beer and Cider now takes place.
